Jenny Sung

Jenny Sung, a native of Taipei, Taiwan, recently graduated from the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music, with a master's degree in viola performance under the mentorship of Yura Lee, following her bachelor’s degree studies under both Yura Lee and Che-Yen Chen. Prior to her college studies, Jenny received guidance from esteemed violist, Donald McInnes.

Since moving to the United States in 2015, Jenny has showcased her versatility as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral performer, studio musician, and educator. Highlights include her solo performance with the Idyllwild Orchestra, appearances on NPR’s From the Top, and performances on Classical KUSC with the American Youth Symphony’s principal quartet. She has also represented the USC Thornton School internationally at prestigious events, including the Vive la France Music Festival in France with her string quartet, Quadraphonic, and the Musical Chairs workshop at McGill University as a member of the Flora Quartet. Since 2022, Jenny has performed with renowned ensembles and musicians, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, the Santa Barbara Symphony, as well as collaborating with Latin Grammy Award winner Silvana Estrada at The Ford.

In addition to her dedication to performance, Jenny is deeply committed to music education.  She currently operates a private studio and serves as a teaching artist with the LA Philharmonic’s Youth Orchestra Los Angeles and HOLA’s intergenerational orchestra, where she strives to inspire and support musicians from diverse backgrounds and communities.
