Louis Fantasia

Louis Fantasia (double bass) began playing bass at 12, and studied with bassist Leslie Martin of the Boston Symphony. Louis received his B.A from Georgetown University and MFA in theater from CalArts. He has produced and directed more than two hundred plays and operas worldwide, served as President of Deep Springs College, and was the first American to direct on the reconstructed London Globe stage, with a workshop production of Much Ado About Nothing. In 2003, the Council of Europe named the theater collection at its library in his honor. In 2016 he was awarded the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany (Verdienstorden der Bundesrepublik Deutschland) for his contributions to German culture and theater.
